We would like to accept both types of studies at the Conference. The time for an oral presentation will be 20 minutes with a 10 minute discussion period (a total of 30 minutes). There is the possibility that some papers of outstanding quality will be given longer time slots (i.e., a 30 minute presentation with a 15 minute discussion period). Furthermore, the space allotted to a poster presentation will be 90 cm (width) x 180 cm (length). The guidelines for the abstract submission are as follows.
Submissions that do not meet the guidelines will be rejected without review.

1. Only e-mail submissions will be accepted.

2. You may submit at most one single (sole-authored) paper and two joint (co-authored) papers. It happened around 3 p.m., just after the third presentation of the program. Considering the severity of the situation at that time, we had no choice but to cancel the rest of the program.

Although this circumstance was totally unexpected, the participants remained calm in the sudden disaster. We greatly appreciate their patience and understanding. We also appreciate the warm and supportive messages that people from all over the world have been sending us. All of the staff members are fine.

Following our original plan, we will publish the proceedings of TCP 2011 in November 2011. The proceedings will contain all of the papers that were presented or scheduled to be presented at TCP 2011, including the ones of the two guest speakers, namely, Jeffrey Lidz (University of Maryland) and Hisatsugu Kitahara (Keio University).

Additionally, TCP 2012 will be held on March 9 and 10 at Keio University in Tokyo next year as scheduled. This is because many parts of Tokyo have been recovering from the disaster and judging by present circumstances, there should not be any impediments to holding of the conference. We will post the Call for Papers for TCP 2012 in our blog and poster in July.

We hope many people will participate in TCP 2012, and would like to ask all of you to consider submitting an abstract to the next TCP. We are looking forward to seeing you at the next conference.

TCP Organizers
Yukio Otsu Lab

We are all okay.

To those who sent us e-mail messages,

We are all okay. />Keio University, Mita, Tokyo
March 11 and 12, 2011

THE TOKYO CONFERENCE ON PSYCHOLINGUISTICS welcomes papers that represent any scientific endeavor that addresses itself to “Plato’s Problem” concerning language acquisition: “How we can gain a rich linguistic system given our fragmentary and impoverished experience?” Its scope thus includes linguistic theory (phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics), L1 and L2 acquisition, language processing, and the neuroscience of language, among other topics.

We believe that there are some types of studies which are suitable for oral presentations, and others, which are suitable for poster presentations.

Namely you may submit any of the following:
a. one sole-authored paper
b. one sole-authored paper and one co-authored paper
c. one sole-authored paper and two co-authored papers
d. one co-authored paper
e. two co-authored papers

3. This address will be effective from October 1 to November 30, 2010. Late submissions will not be accepted. Notification of receipt will be e-mailed to the first author shortly after receipt.

4. The subject of the e-mail should be “abstract”.

5. The body of the e-mail should include:

a. the author information (name, affiliation, mailing address, e-mail address, and telephone number; If your paper has multiple authors, provide information regarding all of the co-authors. Dr. Hiraiwa talked on the significance of the Double-"O" Constraint within a framework of the minimalist program. Dr. Curtiss discussed the modularity of cognitive mechanism.

We also had some oral and poster presentations including topics such as linguistic theory (phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics), L1 and L2 acquisition, language processing, and the neuroscience of language.

The invited talks and each presentation inspired lively discussions with the participants. And even after the conference was over we saw the participants continuing their discussions everywhere.

The reception held on Day 1 had no formal speeches, so it seemed that everyone enjoyed having informal conversations with other participants and attendees. This is one of the special characteristics of TCP. Another characteristic this year was that we received more abstracts and had more participants from both inside and outside of Japan. That is surely because TCP has been continuing for ten years and its name has become widely known throughout the world.

We look forward to your continuous assistance and meeting you at TCP 2011 on March 11 and 12, 2011.

TCP 2010 Program

To view the abstract, click on a title.

Day 1 (March 12, 2010)
10:30-10:35
Opening Yukio Otsu (Keio University)

10:35-11:05
"Fragments in Child English and Spanish"
Koji Sugisaki (Mie University) and William Snyder (University of Connecticut)
Chair: Reiko Okabe (Nihon University)

11:05-11:35
"SVO Universally? 13, 2010

The guidelines for the abstract submission are as follows:

1. Only e-mail submissions will be accepted.

2.
